"Gartner officials were surprised to see a company of our ability in Korea"
Lee Young-Sang, the CEO of DataStreams, a leading domestic company in the big data field, spoke at a press conference to mark the 20th anniversary of the company's foundation.
At the end of last month, major media outlets including GDNet Korea, Maeil Business, Electronic Newspaper, Herald Business, and IT Daily attended the press conference held at the headquarters of Seocho-dong, Along with Mr Lee, company vice president Kim Tae-Hong and executive directors Lee Kun-Ho and Jeon Myung-Seok were also present.
DataStreams, which has been leading the domestic data market, was established by Mr Lee in September 2001 and celebrated its 20th-anniversary last month.
Having obtained a master's degree in electronic engineering at Michigan State University and a doctorate at KAIST, he founded the company out of his passion for all things data.
The company has been a pioneer in the domestic data market for the last 20 years and is particularly well-regarded in the domestic ETL market. ETL refers to extracting, converting, and loading data (extract, transform, and load). In the early 2000s, foreign ETL called prism accounted for 70-80% of the domestic market, but, in almost like-for-like reversal, DataStreams now accounts for 70-80% of the same market.
