Lee Young-sang, CEO of DataStreams, recently announced the company's big data project in Kazakhstan and advised on the direction of ICT development in Kazakhstan. DataStreams plans to set the stage for entering Central Asian countries by establishing a big data analysis platform in the country.
Mr Lee attended conference named "Appraisal of the Needs-Assessment Survey Results on Digitalisation", held at the Astana Expo in Kazakhstan on the 15th of June. Mr Lee spoke on the difference between digital transformation and digitalization, the current status of digital government data usage in Korea and its future direction, data governance, big data platforms, and what must be done to accelerate digitalization.
About 80 people attended the event, including Kazakhstan's IT and deputy ministers. Government officials from Central Asian countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as officials from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Agency (UNDESA), and the Asia-Pacific Economic and Social Committee (UNESCAP) participated in the discussion on digital transformation.
In Korea, officials from DataStreams, Korea Intelligence and Information Society Intelligence (NIA), and other consulting and technology companies were in attendance.
After the conference, Mr Lee met with ZERDE and NITEC officials, major partners in Kazakhstan, to discuss big data platform construction, employee training projects, and developments in Kazakhstan's data field.
They also discussed in depth the issue of entering Central Asian countries, with a focus on Kazakhstan, as part of their strategy to enter the global data market. Zerde is an affiliate of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Digital Development and Defense Aerospace Industry and was established in 2008 with the aim of promoting Kazakhstan's information and communication society and enhancing competitiveness in the ICT field.
